Liver Pain – Blame it on Alcohol and Liver Infection
The liver is one of the most important organ in our body. It has an extraordinary capacity for renewal and regeneration. Its function is vital to the health of every person.
There are many causes of liver pain. Liver infection is also one of the causes of liver pain, however, alcohol is one of the most common. Liver pain after drinking alcohol will occur because the liver is unable to process all the alcohol consumed.
This problem normally occurs after longer and continuous consumption of large amounts of alcohol. Pain in the liver is a result. People who drink excessively over a long period of time and cause constant load on the liver, prevent liver regeneration process.
In addition to alcohol which damages the liver, damaged liver is performing its other functions of reduced intensity, and in a negative way affects the rest of the body.
One of the negative aspects of the liver is damaged and reduced removal of various waste substances that a person is introduced into the body or are created as a byproduct of food processing.
Liver functions:
- Removes toxins from the body
- Turns alcohol into less dangerous matter
- Makes proteins that are necessary for blood clotting
- Processes fats and proteins
- Makes bile and thus helps digestion
- Stores glycogen, changing it into glucose and released directly into the blood when the body needs.
After eating, the alcohol from the stomach and intestines is absorbed into the blood, but before it begins to circulate throughout the body the blood passes through the liver.
The liver produces enzymes that break down alcohol into carbon dioxide and water. The water turns into urine and carbon dioxide through the process of breathing. Since the liver can only handle a certain amount of alcohol per hour, if you consume large quantities in a short time in the blood alcohol level rises.
